NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Some people who live in a Hermitage apartment complex are complaining about a spider problem.
Peyton Gentry lives at the Oakwell Farms apartments. She showed News 2 a trap full of spiders inside her apartment.
“One, two, three, four, five, six, seven spiders it looks like,” said Gentry while holding the spider trap.
Gentry told News 2 the issue is with brown recluse spiders.
While brown recluse spiders are common in Tennessee, they are poisonous.
Gentry’s sister and her nieces, who often visit her, said they are concerned for their safety.
“Yeah, it’s kind of scary because they have stayed here so, it’s kind of dangerous,” said Jessica Gentry.
Peyton Gentry told News 2 she contacted office management about the problem and they sent in an exterminator to spray.
News 2 spoke with office managers on the phone.
Due to company policy, the managers were not allowed to do on-camera interviews however; they deal with each resident’s concerns on a case-by-case basis.
The office also gave Gentry spider traps.
Other residents told News 2 they have the same problem in their unit.
Office managers said they are working with local certified exterminators to deal with the problem.
Under Tennessee law, landlords are obligated to manage pest control.
