BRISTOL, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Tennessee couple is planning to remarry each other on their one-year anniversary after a car accident claimed the wife’s short-term memory.
After a two-year engagement, Jeremy and Justice Stamper married Aug. 1, 2014 in front of 70 family members and friends.
“It was a country sunflower theme,” Jeremy told ABC News. “It was absolutely perfect.”
Weeks later on August 20, as the young couple was preparing to move into their new apartment, Justice was involved in a car accident in Virginia.
The crash left the 20-year-old newlywed with memory loss.
“When she said she had memory loss, the doctors said it could come back and it might not. Signing our lease, renting our apartment, the [wedding] planning, all that stuff, she has no recollection of,” Jeremy explained.
He continued, “She finally came out and told me she didn’t remember the wedding. I said, ‘Don’t worry about it. We’re going to do it again.’”
The couple will renew their vows at the same venue they married on their one-year anniversary in front of 150 loved ones.
“I’m absolutely looking forward to seeing his face when I come down the aisle. That is the moment I want to see,” Justice told ABC News, adding she will be wearing a different wedding gown.
Following their ceremony, the newlyweds will vacation in Myrtle Beach, a trip donated by their photographer and a local radio station.
The couple said they look forward to starting a family in the future.
