CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) – Officials are investigating after a 30-year-old woman apparently fell 90 feet to her death from an overlook on Lookout Mountain.
Todd Roeder, chief ranger at Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, said two hikers found the woman at the base of Sunset Rock on Tuesday evening and called 911. He said crews that responded determined that she had died at the scene.
The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office said it would determine the woman’s cause of death, but the National Park Service would lead the investigation into it.
Roeder said there does not appear to be any foul play in the death. First responders said it appeared that she fell.
Local media report that officials did not release the woman’s name pending notification of kin.
