The Clarksville Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in response to a recent rise of burglaries at vacant homes.
According to police, the suspected burglars may pose as individuals responsible for the upkeep of the homes, moving company employees, individuals working for appliance companies or any excuse that will give them access to the vacant home.
Owners of vacant homes are urged to be on the lookout for any suspicious activities.
Police said suspects typically gain access to a vacant home through a back or side door and that they made case out their target during the day and return at night.
Owners of vacant homes are encouraged to check their home on a regular basis, get to know their neighbors and always record names, brands and serial numbers of appliances and other items of value.
