Hearing for woman accused in deadly DUI crash rescheduled

PORTLAND, Tenn. (WKRN) – The woman accused in a DUI crash that killed a Sumner County teenager briefly appeared in court Tuesday.

Laura Beasley is charged with vehicular homicide in the death of Portland High School student Nicholas Townsend.

Townsend was seriously injured in the head-on crash which occurred on Highway 52 just days before his high school graduation. He died two days after the accident.

On Tuesday, her hearing was continued and is now rescheduled for July 10.

A judge previously refused to reduce Beasley’s $200,000 bond.

Beasley’s two-year-old daughter was also in the car at the time of the accident.
