NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The 2015 Pork of the Year in Tennessee was announced Tuesday, and the winner is the new state logo.
The contest aims to rank the most seemingly unnecessary spending of state money.
As for the new, simple state logo, it cost $46,000.
A spokesman for the governor said the new logo was needed to give the state a more unified look, but some say it was a waste of money.
This was the first year the Pork of the Year contest was decided by the public.
The other two contenders for Tennessee, compiled by the Beacon Center of Tennessee, were the taxpayer funded trip to Disney World and the Volxwagen handout.
