SOUTHPORT, NC (WNCN) — An alligator that was looking for a place to cool off was captured by officials after causing a ruckus in a woman’s back yard.
The gator — about 7 feet long — showed up in the yard of Joan Tomasch, who lives in the Rivermist community in Southport on Saturday.
The alligator cooled down in the gold fish pond in the back yard for a while, came up to the screened-in porch and then hung out in Tomasch’s flower bed.
Charles Drew with the City of Southport’s Animal Control removed the alligator.
Drew relocated the alligator to Price’s Creek in Southport.
