MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – Charles Roy Dossett was scheduled to graduate from Everett High School in Maryville in 1952, but his schooling was interrupted when he entered the Air Force to serve in the Korean War.

In 1954, he passed the GED while on active duty, but was never awarded a diploma. After more than half a century, Dossett will be presented with his diploma at a ceremony at William Blount High School.

The Adult Education Graduation Ceremony will take place in the auditorium of the school, located at 219 County Farm Road, at 7:00 p.m. Friday. Nathan B. Weinbaum, Director of Veterans Affairs and Veterans Service Officer for Blount County will present the honorary diploma to Dossett in front of the rest of the graduates.

Since 2014, the Blount County Veterans Affairs office has assisted 3 Veterans in obtaining their High School diploma.
