Dog injured during possible break-in on Valley Ridge Drive

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A dog was injured early Monday morning during a home burglary in south Nashville.

Officers found shell casings in the home.

According to police on scene, the house is on Valley Ridge Drive and when the residents arrived home they found it had been broken into.

They also noticed their dog was bleeding and took it to an emergency clinic for treatment. Police told News 2 the dog was severely injured and they believe it was shot.

Officers found shell casings in the home and a flashlight in the backyard. The burglar or burglars gained entry into the home through an unlocked back door.

Police don’t believe anything was taken from the home and hope the dog may have scared the suspects away.
