NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Vanderbilt Commodores steamrolled the Illinois Fighting Illini 13-0 in the opening game of their best-of-three super regional Saturday night.
Carson Fulmer proved, once again, why he was named the SEC Pitcher of the Year. Fulmer threw 6.1 scoreless innings giving up just four hits while striking out five.
Jeren Kendall drove in three runs for the Dores, two of which came from his 2-run homerun in the 9th inning. Tyler Campbell also homered in the contest.
Illinois starting pitcher Kevin Duchene took the loss giving up seven runs on seven hits in 4.0 innings of work.
Game two of the series is Sunday at 8 p.m CT.
