NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – It’s a rematch neither Vanderbilt nor Lipscomb think they would get, but after Selection Sunday The Bisons and Commodores get one more shot at each other in the NCAA tournament.
Lipscomb pulled off a major upset way back on April 7 when they walked out of Hawkins field with a 3-1 victory over Vanderbilt who was ranked among the top 10 in the country.
Vanderbilt shortstop, Dansby Swanson said “It’s done and gone you know, it was a midweek game. We didn’t play our best ball, they played great,” Swanson when on to say that both teams are probably better now than they were in their first meeting.
Since that time both teams say they have gotten better and Vanderbilt is not dwelling on their previous loss.
“It just gives us a good challenge, you know they’re a great ball team, they’ve got a bunch of good players. It just gives us another opportunity to play against good competition and it’s definitely something we’re ready for.” said Vanderbilt pitcher, Carson Fulmer.
For the Bisons, a win over the Commodores was one of the major highlights of their season. They are happy to be put to the test and prove for a second time that the win was no fluke.
Lipscomb infielder Josh Lee said “We’re definitely fortunate to play them again… We’re anxious to come back here to Hawkins field and play.”
First pitch between Vanderbilt and Lipscomb is scheduled for Friday at 7:00 pm.
