CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man was inside an SUV with two children when he was shot multiple times in Clarksville late Friday afternoon inside the Summit Heights neighborhood.

Police said they found the 23-year-old Clarksville man as well as a white 2007 Envoy riddled with bullets at the Summit Heights exit onto Paradise Hill Road around 3:35 p.m.

Clarksville police report the victim, Dshawn Blount, was inside the car when he was approached by the suspect and shot numerous times through the driver’s side window.

Two small children were in the vehicle at the time. The 11-month old baby and 8-year-old boy were not injured in the shooting.

Blount was transported by ambulance to Barksdale School and loaded onto a LifeFlight helicopter. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was last listed in stable condition.

Clarksville police found multiple bullet casings near the SUV. A resident who called 911 said they heard around 10 gunshots. The driver’s side window suffered heavy damage.

No information about the suspect is being released at this time, but police report there is some speculation in the community that Blount may have been the victim of mistaken identity.
