SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A former Sevier County deputy is accused of misconduct after the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said he had sexual relations with a woman while on the job and ignored service calls.
Wallace Burchfield, 40, is charged with one count of official misconduct.
Burchfield responded to a 911 call on Jan. 17 by a female Sevier County resident he did not previously know. The TBI reported Burchfield returned to her home several times that day and engaged in physical and sexual conduct with her.
While at the woman’s home, Burchfield allegedly ignored and delayed calls for service. The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office later fired him.
Burchfield turned himself in to the Sevier County jail Tuesday after he was indicted on one count of official misconduct. He was released after posting $5,000 bond.
