CLARKSIVLLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – This weekend a portion of Interstate 24 and State Route 237 in Clarksville will be closed for bridge work.
Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday I-24 West and the SR 237 bridge over the interstate will be closed as crews prepare for a bridge removal.
All traffic will be detoured off the roadway at Exit 8. Delays are expected.
The closures are necessary to access, remove and contain asbestos from under the bridge.
Later this year, the old bridge will be removed and a new one built.
The bridgework is part of a $12.9 million project that will modify the interchange and wide SR 237.
All work is dependent on weather conditions.
Motorists are asked to use caution, reduce speed and be alert to changing traffic conditions in the work zones.
