FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) – After winning the bareback riding event at the Franklin Rodeo last year, Tim O’Connell is back and eyeing a second straight championship.
O’Connell finished eighth in the world last year and recently was among the top 15 riders to start 2015 at the National Finals Rodeo.
One of his favorite rodeos is here in Franklin, and this year it’s special for two reasons. First, his brother is the pick-up man after he finishes riding, and second is that he’ll have the same horse he won on a year ago.
“I mean, it’s always good coming back to a rodeo that you’ve won, and actually I drew the same exact horse I won it on last year,” O’Connell said. “So the odds of that happening were pretty slim to none, so it’s a pretty cool deal.”
He said he loves the rodeo and this year will be his fourth.
The Franklin Rodeo starts Thursday night and runs through the weekend.
