MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Riverdale High School senior took the walk of a lifetime Wednesday night to get her high school diploma.
Caytie Gascoigne, 17, wasn’t even expecting to walk again after a December car wreck left her in a coma for 21 days.
But at graduation Wednesday at Middle Tennessee State University, she walked across the stage on her own.
Gascoigne overcame several surgeries to get to this day. Every goal since the crash was to walk with her class on graduation night.
And last month, she was named prom queen and took part in her yearly class play, both major milestones in her journey of recovery.
