NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Monday marked the 10-year anniversary of Nashville Fire Department Chief Willie Barnes’ tragic death.
The 52-year-old was killed when an asphalt truck accidentally backed over him. The driver said that he did not know Barnes was behind him.
The deadly accident occurred while Barnes was working his second job on Interstate 40 controlling traffic.
A stretch of the interstate was later memorialized in Chief Barnes’ name.
