CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Clarksville police are now investigating what they deem to be a gang-related shooting that happened Tuesday night.
Authorities received calls from several residents in the area of Bel Aire Park around 10:30 p.m. saying they heard multiple gunshots and saw cars speeding away.
Officers found several bullet casings at a nearby store on Preachers Mill Road. They also located a pistol.
A short time later, a gunshot victim showed up at Gateway hospital. Police said the victim was interviewed by refused to cooperate and gave them little information.
Around 11 p.m., another person with a gunshot wound was reported on Ernest Shelton Drive where officers also found a Hondo Accord with several bullet holes in it. Before officers could speak to the person who was shot, a family member told police he was taken by car to Gateway then flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
When interview, the second victim claimed he didn’t know who shot him or why. He suffered multiple bullet wounds but his injuries aren’t considered life threatening.
Clarksville police believe the incident began when two groups encountered each other at the store’s parking lot on Preachers Mill Road, but no one involved called police.
They also said there is evidence a third person may have been injured but neither their location nor condition is known.
These kinds of investigations are hampered by witnesses and alleged victims alike who withhold information and refuse to cooperate with police,” authorities said in a release Wednesday.
