Commodores let late lead, series slip away

Vanderbilt Baseball

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Vanderbilt Commodores will have to wait until next week to see if they can win the SEC East.

A win Saturday over Florida would have done it but the Dores let a late lead slip away in the top of the 9th inning.

Dansby Swanson had two homeruns in the game and Rhett Wiseman had a solo shot for his 12th of the year but the Dores were beaten in 10 innings by the Gators 9-7.

The Dores lose the series 2-1 to Florida and they will enter the final weekend of Southeastern Conference play with a one-game lead over the Gators in the SEC East division.

Vanderbilt returns to action with the team’s final midweek game of the season with a trip to No. 2 Louisville on Tuesday night for the Battle of the Barrel. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. CT.
