NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Metro officer dropped off a victim of a wrong-way crash at the airport Friday morning.
The victim was headed to the Nashville International Airport in a rental car when he was involved in an accident on Stewarts Ferry Pike near the Interstate 40 West entrance ramp around 5 a.m.
Police told News 2 the driver reported being struck head-on by a vehicle traveling in the wrong lane.
The wrong-way driver drove away from the accident, heading east in the westbound lanes of I-40.
Police are now searching for a dark-colored SUV with front end damage, possibly headed toward Wilson County.
Authorities believe the driver may have realized he was traveling in the wrong lanes and turned around at the Old Hickory Boulevard exit.
No injuries were reported.
