LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A La Vergne church was destroyed by a massive fire Thursday night.
It started shortly before 9 p.m. at the Life of Victory Church located at 599 Waldron Road just off Interstate 24.
Multiple fire agencies including the La Vergne and Smyrna fire departments and Almaville Volunteer Fire, among others, all responded to the fully engulfed church.
The building, which is valued at $850,000, is considered a complete loss.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
“Anytime there is a fire at a place of worship, it is protocol to bring in investigators from these agencies,” said Assistant Fire Chief Mike Culberson.
The church served three local congregations. The offices of Life of Victory International Christian Ministries and the sanctuary serving Faith Life, Amazing Grace Fellowship, and Iglesia De Dios were destroyed.
Life of Victory International Christian Ministries is a non-profit HUD Approved Housing Counseling Agency that provides Housing Counseling, Healthy Marriage and Family Resource Center, Transitional Housing, and the Rutherford County Foreclosure Prevention Task Force.
