NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A dump truck accidentally dumping its load onto Interstate 440 was captured on cell phone video.
The truck was slowly spilling rocks and sand, peppering nearby drivers, much to their dismay. Some honked, others sped up to pass.
Officials with AAA say the best trick is to put some distance between yourself and the truck to avoid damage to your car. Drivers should stay about three seconds behind most vehicles on the highway. But if it’s a dump truck or other big truck, the distance should double to around six seconds.
Steve Bass, owner of Bass Tire, says slowing down is the best trick.
“So I think the thing to do is slow down and certainly try and get out of the line of fire of whatever is coming at you,” said Bass.
