NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Lawrenceburg police lieutenant has been charged with theft Thursday after he allegedly borrowed a firearm from a subordinate and pawned it.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation began investigating Dwight Alan Rager, 45, on April 7.

The TBI reported Rager borrowed a rifle from a patrolman in November 2014 and never returned it, despite the patrolman’s repeated requests.

An investigation revealed Rager allegedly pawned the weapon in December 2014.

Rager was booked into the Lawrence County jail and charged with theft of less than $1,000. His bond was set at $10,000.

The Lawrenceburg Police Department has suspended Rager.
