NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A multiple car accident temporarily closed Highway 100 Friday morning.
It happened in the 7700 block of Hwy 100, near Ensworth High School, around 5:45 a.m.
Three vehicles were involved in the crash.
Police told News 2 an SUV drifted into oncoming traffic and collided with another car head-on, resulting in the SUV catching fire.
A third vehicle approached the crash, swerved to avoid it and ran off the road into a tree. An occupant of this vehicle was temporarily trapped inside.
The driver of the third vehicle was the most critically injured but is expected to survive.
At least two more people were transported to area hospitals.
Drivers are encouraged take Old Harding Pike to Old Hickory Boulevard as a detour.
Highway 100 reopened shortly after 8 a.m.
