Man charged with murder after 2 found dead in house fire

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (AP) – Police say an East Tennessee man facing charges of murder, arson and burglary after firefighters found two bodies at a blazing home.

The Kingsport Times-News reports the blaze was reported early Wednesday morning and firefighters arrived find a woman’s body outside the Kingsport home and a man’s body inside.

Kingsport police say they found the suspect, 56-year-old Paul Robinson, near the scene on Wednesday with singed hair and skin. Officers took him in for questioning, which led to the charges.

A statement from police says investigators believe Robinson set the fire with the intent to kill the two people at the home.

Authorities haven’t released the identities of the man and woman found dead.
