SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – Robertson and Sumner County authorities are searching for a burglary suspect who has been on the run for several days.
According to Smokey Barn News, Anthony Cuevas evaded law enforcement Monday night near the Highland Rim Speedway in Robertson County.
A police officer in White House reportedly spotted the car Cuevas was driving around 6:30 p.m. on Interstate 65 and followed him to the Speedway in the Millersville area. As the suspect reached Gideon Road, he got out of the car and fled on foot.
Officers searched the track and wooded area nearby, but couldn’t find him.
Cuevas is wanted for burglary and vehicle theft in Sumner County, police said, and has been on the run for several days.
He also may be armed, “There was a gun reported missing after a burglary that Cuevas was allegedly involved with, but we don’t know for sure,” Sumner County Sheriff Sonny Weatherford said.
Cuevas reportedly called Sumner County dispatch a few days ago and said, “I’m not going back to prison, I’ll commit suicide by cop.”
“My detectives are working on the case, but the last I heard they had not found any evidence Cuevas was ever in prison or wanted anywhere else,” Sheriff Weatherford told the paper.
Every time officers corner him, he reportedly runs and disappears into the woods.
“Cuevas has been on the run for several days now and he may have issues. He needs to be brought in.”
If you see Cuevas call Robertson County dispatch at 615-384-4911.
