BAKERSVILLE, Calif. (WKRN) – A California man is behind bars after police said he was caught on tape punching a toddler in the face.
According to KABC-TV, 23-year-old Justin Whittington was arrested and charged with child endangerment.
Police started searching for him earlier in the week after surveillance video from a market in downtown Bakersville surfaced. In the footage, a toddler was seen running around the store.
A man then came running down the aisles and hit the toddler in the face.
As the little boy started to cry, the man picked him up and flipped him around as a woman came and took him away.
The child was checked out by paramedics and is doing fine.
A clip of the video was posted to Facebook on Thursday. Police later identified the suspect as Whittington and arrested him the next day.
He remains behind bars on a $1 million bond.
