NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Police are continuing to investigate days after a 19-year-old died from a gunshot wound initially believed to have been accidental.
Craig Lambert was shot in Hadley Park around 10:30 p.m. Monday night. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died Wednesday.
Witnesses initially told police Lambert’s gun discharged after the pistol fell while he was petting a cat.
According to the witnesses, as Lambert grabbed for the gun, he hit the trigger causing it to fire.
Police said an autopsy and other evidence has cast doubt on what led to the shooting.
At the time of the incident, police said Lambert was in the park with at least four other people.
The shooting remains under investigation.
