MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 3-month-old baby was killed in an accident in Murfreesboro Friday morning.
According the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Landon Salas died in a two-vehicle crash that happened just after 11 a.m. on Highway 99.
Officials told News 2 Salas was riding in a 2009 Kia Rio that was occupied by two other children, ages 2 and 7, and two adults identified as 30-year-old Corina Huiltron and 25-year-old Toni Dintelman.
They were traveling northbound when they stopped to let a turtle cross the road.
That’s when a 2001 Nissan Xterra, driven by 20-year-old Shawn Adams, failed to stop and rear-ended the Kia.
All the occupants of the Kia were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for injuries.
Salas, who police say was properly restrained in a car seat, was killed.
The driver of the Nissan also sustained injuries and was transported to St. Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro.
Criminal charges are pending.
