On Monday, we talked about the possibility of a few strong storms in the mix on Friday with a cold front. That still appears to be the case, as now the Storm Prediction Center has put us under a “Slight Risk” for severe storms for Friday.
As we have said before, the wording of “Slight Risk” seems confusing.
Recently, Greg Carbin from The Storm Prediction Center visited Nashville to speak at Severe Weather Awareness Day.
Our good friends at NashSevereWx took a picture of this graphic from one of the presentations and shared it with us this morning. That’s one way to put it!
The wording from SPC this morning concerning the outlook is the following:
“…SUGGEST LIKELIHOOD FOR STORM ORGANIZATION WITHIN A FAVORED CORRIDOR FROM THE TN/KY AREA WSWWD ACROSS THE LOWER MS VALLEY. HERE…POTENTIAL FOR LOCALLY DAMAGING WINDS AND HAIL IS EVIDENT WITH STRONGER STORMS”
Again, a major tornado outbreak is not expected, but you should be aware of a few strong storms with damaging winds and hail with a squall line on Friday.
