NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Smiley, the paralyzed dachshund who was discovered abandoned by a dumpster at a Donelson apartment complex in January, has found her forever home.
Smiley, who gets around with the help of a dog cart similar to a wheelchair, underwent surgery in late January to remove an infected plate in her back.
After recovering from the surgery, she was placed in the care of Happy Tales Humane in Franklin until her recent adoption.
Smiley’s new home is set up to accommodate her special needs and includes customs ramps and other equipment that will make it easier for her to get around.
Smiley’s family also has several other dogs, some of which also have disabilities.
