NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Metro Public Works has put in a request to review an intersection for safety measures in north Nashville.
Jenna Smith with the Department of Public works told News 2 that traffic engineering staff will inspect Garfield Street near Delta Avenue where a pedestrian was hit and killed Saturday night.
Their review will include looking at traffic volume and speed, lighting, the location of the crosswalk, the reflectivity of existing signs and previous accidents at the intersection.
Smith said their report won’t be limited to just these elements and could include other variables.
The traffic engineers will then decide what other safety measures and improvements could be made at the intersection, which could possibly include a stop light.
Wayne Elam, 64, was killed after being hit by a car while walking across Garfield Street in the crosswalk.
