NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Three men are accused of stealing tools from a fellow employee of an east Nashville auto repair shop then vandalizing the business to make it look like a burglary.
According to an affidavit, the victim was told on March 13 by his bosses that the shop had been burglarized the night before and his tool box containing nearly $10,000 worth of tools had been stolen.
Aaron Valdez, 19, and Mauricio Valdez, 36, reportedly made statements to police that the business had been broken into and items taken from both inside the shop and cars parked on the property.
Surveillance footage from a nearby business allegedly revealed both Valdez men and a third suspect, who also works at the shop, dislodging the entrance gate and breaking a window to the bay where the toolbox was stored.
Additionally, the video reportedly showed all three men loading the toolbox into the back of a truck and driving away.
The third suspect has yet to be arrested.
Both Valdez men were arrested Thursday and booked in the Metro jail on charges of theft and filing a false report. Their bonds were set at $50,000 each.
