NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A woman was shot in the face at a Madison intersection Thursday morning.
It happened at the corner of Bixler and Cumberland avenues around 9:30 a.m.
Witnesses told police the woman, Valerie Carter, who also goes by the name Valerie Robinson, got out of a car and was heard saying “Robert, don’t do this” just prior to being shot.
The bullet went through her cheek and into her neck.
Carter, 33, was transported to TriStar Skyline Medical Center where officials say she is in stable but critical condition.
Metro police are currently searching for the shooter, who they say was also a passenger in the car, a silver sedan, possibly a Ford Taurus.
The shooter is described as a white man in his 30s with shoulder-length straight black hair. He is approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall.
Investigators believe the shooting may have been drug related.
Carter, whose last known address was in Gallatin, Tennessee, continues to recover.
