CALIFORNIA (WKRN) – The Vanderbilt Commodores are on to round two of the NIT after a convincing 75-64 win at St. Mary’s of California Wednesday night.
The Commodores fell behind 17-8, but used a 12-2 run to take a one point lead. That turned into a 21-4 run that saw the Commodores first half lead grow to 29-21.
In the second half, the Gaels cut the Commodore lead to 57-51 but freshman Riley Lachance answered with three of his 17 points to quash the rally.
Damian Jones led Vanderbilt with 21 points and 7 rebounds in the victory.
The Commodores advance to meet the winner of Colorado State and South Dakota State in round 2.
