CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 29-year-old man was arrested Saturday in the death of another man whose body was found in Clarksville Friday morning.
Demetrius Cobbin, of Clarksville, was charged with criminal homicide in the death of 31-year-old Donnie Kennedy, of Cedar Hill.
Kennedy’s body was discovered around 9 a.m. Friday on Power Street. Police said his injuries were consistent with assault.
An investigation led authorities to Cobbin, who reportedly admitted to being involved in an altercation with Kennedy the morning his body was found.
Cobbin was booked into the Montgomery County jail without bond.
Kennedy was a father of three children, two girls and a boy ages 6, 9, and 11.
Originally from Clarksville, he attended Montgomery County High School. He and his family made money cutting and selling wood.
“We were very close. He was very caring. He would help anybody and everybody,” his sister Alisha Kennedy told Smokey Barn News.
“He was a good dude,” Kennedy’s brother-in-law stated. “He didn’t deserve to go out like this. Not at all. He would do anything in the world to help somebody. He would give the shirt off his back for people.”
The family is in the process of making funeral arrangements.
