WHITE HOUSE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A White House high school student is a singing star.
Kaitlynn Logsdon sent in a 90-second video of herself singing to Mix 92.9 for their online singing contest. She wound up getting the most votes and beating out junior and high school students from all over the area.
A confident, yet surprised Kaitlynn walked to the center of the gym at White House Heritage High School Friday amid thunderous cheers from her classmates.
“This is amazing. Thank you so much for everybody who voted for me. I know we had a lot of big schools, but it’s really amazing we got together. There were so many votes. I can’t believe it,” said Kaitlynn.
Mix 92.9’s morning crew presented a $1,000 prize to Kaitlynn and a $1,000 check to her school.
They also praised the students for supporting their fellow classmate.
“Although this is a small school, they all rallied and they helped one of the students here win the contest and win the $1,000 for the school. So it’s good whether the school is a big school or a small school, you still got an even shot,” said Anna Marie with Mix 92.9.
Kaitlynn later performed her award-winning entry. She plans to put her prize money into her college fund.
The student said although she’s passionate about her music, she wants to become a science teacher.
