Nashville man accused of abusing impaired adult

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Nashville man is facing charges for allegedly abusing an impaired adult at a facility he worked in.

Willis Rutledge, 57, was arrested Friday.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation started investigating Rutledge on August 13, 2014.

According to authorities, he was caught on video on July 28, 2014 mistreating an impaired adult at the New Horizons Day Services Program on Harding Place. Rutledge reportedly put the patient in a choke hold and threw him to the floor after he had a behavioral episode.

Rutledge has since been suspended from his position with the company.

On March 2, a Davidson County Grand Jury returned an indictment against Rutledge, charging him with one count of abuse of an impaired adult.

Rutledge was booked into the Davidson County Jail. He’s being held on $7,500 bond.
