NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Flood Watch is in effect for Nashville and surrounding areas through Saturday morning as rain showers that could be heavy at times continue Friday.
The National Weather Service says the additional rainfall on top of already saturated soils will increase the risk for flooding along and west of Interstate 65.
A rumble of thunder is possible but no strong storms are expected.
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
The rain chance continues into Saturday although the day should end dry as a weak cold front moves through.
Highs Saturday will be in the 60s.
Sunday through the middle of next week, including St. Patrick’s Day, looks dry and mild. Temperatures Monday could hit 70 degrees.
The next chance of rain is next Wednesday night into Thursday.
