NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – For the first time in 20 years, the Tennessee State University women’s basketball team is headed to the NCAA tournament.
The Tigers won the OVC Championship Saturday in an overtime game against the University of Tennessee-Martin.
News 2 caught up with two TSU seniors who are ready for the big “dance.”
“Going dancing. Ah, it’s an amazing feeling. It’s something you dream about growing up,” said Chelsea Hudson, a forward for the Tigers.
Hudson and her teammate Rachel Allen now know the thrill of victory that has eluded their team for years.
“I wish every athlete could get this feeling we worked so hard, whether its practices, lifting weights, running,” Allen said. “We worked extremely hard and to see your hard work pay off is just another blessing.”
TSU will find out where they’ll go “dancing” and they will play on Monday.
