RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – The man found dead off Highway 41 in Rutherford County Saturday has been identified as Troy Wheeler.
Initial results from the state medical examiner found the 64-year-old’s death consistent with falling off a bridge, being knocked unconscious and possibly drowning on Saturday.
Several people called Detective Steve Craig with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office to say they saw Wheeler, of Snell Road, walking in the area, standing at the bridge, and seeing his roommate searching for him before his body was found.
Det. Craig also learned Wheeler frequently walked to Gordon’s Market off Highway 41 and Gum Road from his home.
“I thank everyone for calling in with information,” Craig said in a release Monday. “It helped establish a time line.”
The investigation is still ongoing while awaiting the final results from the state medical examiner’s office.
