WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – One man was killed and another injured in a wreck on Highway 231 in Wilson County late Sunday night.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Joshua Mayfield of Hermitage was driving south around 10 p.m. when he swerved for an unknown reason.
Mayfield, 28, overcorrected and the car left the road at Spring Creek Bridge, hit a guardrail, and went down a stone embankment before landing on the driver’s side.
Mayfield died at the scene. His 20-year-old passenger was injured.
Speed is believed to have played a factor in the accident.
Blood tests were requested for Mayfield because alcohol may have played a factor, according to the preliminary crash report.
The highway reopened around 1:30 a.m.
