BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WKRN) – A 14-year-old girl was shot and killed after a Facebook spat escalated to a fight in a park.
According to ABC affiliate WCFT, Kierra-onna Rice was killed and two others, a 17 and 18 year old, were injured in the shooting.
It happened Friday night on Washington Avenue three weeks after several girls began quarrelling on Facebook.
The girls reportedly met in a park Friday night and started righting when two teenage boys pulled out guns and started shooting the girls.
It’s believed one of the suspects was dating one of the girls fighting 14-year-old Rice.
Two suspects are now in custody. Their identities were not immediately known.
Rice attended Fairfield High School. Superintendent Walter Gonsoulin said, “This is an unfortunate incident that leaves all our hearts heavy.”
“Our prayers go out to the family,” he continued, WCFT reports.
