PURCELLVILLE, Va. (WKRN) – Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Emmanuel Acho will escort a teen fan to her junior prom in May.

He heard about 16-year-old Hannah Delmonte’s big night after she sent him a direct message on Instagram, according to ABC News.

“I figured I’d give it a shot,” Hannah said. “I’ve seen him on social media and I know he does a lot of charity work. He seemed like a really nice person, so if I was going to ask anyone, it’d be him. And my dad really likes him so that helped, too.”

In her message she asked if he would take her to prom if she got 2,000 retweets.

To her surprise he answered her message one hour later. He said if she received 10,000 retweets she had a deal.

Hannah didn’t think it was possible, but she made it happen.

“She got roughly 15,000 retweets in three hours,” Acho told ABC News. “After that, I said, ‘Ok, I’m going to prom and how can I make this an extremely special event for her?'”

He decided to make a trip to Hannah’s Woodgrove High School in Purcellville, Virginia, last Friday.

Acho traveled from the University of Texas at Austin, where he said he attends graduate school in the off-season.

He then surprised Hannah by accepting her prom invitation in person.

She was in disbelief.

“He didn’t know what to say at first because I was crying, but he actually did say, ‘Will you go to prom with me?'”

The teen said they already have their outfits planned for the May 9 event.

“He’ll [Acho] will be wearing classic black with Eagles green accessories. The Eagles’ safety Malcolm Jenkins is hooking him up with an Eagles green bow tie because the color isn’t common,” Hannah explained.

Acho, who is working to find the perfect corsage for Hannah, said he is was very flattered that she asked him to prom.

“Saying it was humbling is so cliché. It’s a very heartwarming feeling because I never realize the impact I have on other people until that moment. When I saw her [Hannah] cry, I truly realized that I play a big impact on people’s lives.”
