FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) – Two police agencies are searching for a woman who used a stolen identification from Franklin to cash a forged check in Hendersonville.
The identification was stolen from a woman’s purse as she dropped her child off at a day care in Franklin Friday.
A short time later, the victim’s ID was used to cash a forged check from a second victim at a Hendersonville bank.
Police are looking for a Caucasian woman driving a newer model white Toyota Corolla.
Authorities warn that in cases like these, groups of thieves often work together by stealing IDs and checks from separate victims and using them to defraud banks.
The thieves often target parks, day cares and fitness centers where women often leave their purse in the car.
Anyone with information on the suspect is urged to contact Franklin Crime Stoppers at 615-794-4000 or Hendersonville Crime Stoppers at 615-573-5400.
