KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The Knox County District Attorney Office says they will present a case involving rape allegations of two former University of Tennessee football players to a grand jury.
Deputy District Attorney General Kyle A. Hixson said his office has completed a review of of Knoxville Police Department’s investigation into allegations involving former Tennessee Linebacker A.J. Johnson and former Tennessee Cornerback Michael Williams.
Hixson said the case will now be submitted for consideration by the Knox County Grand Jury.
“The citizens on the Grand Jury will decide whether Johnson and Williams will be criminally charged for the accusations against them,” said Hixson.
Williams’ attorney, David M. Eldridge released this statement on behalf of the former Tennessee Cornerback Tuesday:
“Michael Williams is innocent of these allegations. He cooperated fully with the Knoxville Police Department’s investigation, welcomes further review, and is hopeful that this matter will be closed soon.”
