FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Nashville man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after a mishap caught his car on fire while he was with his young child.
Franklin police reported they were called to Mallory and Seaboard lanes in Franklin at 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon for a car fire.
Investigators learned the driver, 31-year-old Nathan Boland, spun out, sending his car into the ditch.
His attempt to free the car from the ditch caused friction which ignited the nearby brush and ultimately his car.
According to officers, they determined Boland was impaired and arrested him for DUI, his second offense, and violation of the implied consent law.
Neither he nor his child was harmed.
Boland is now free on $5,000 bond. He is due in court Feb. 19.
