FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) – Franklin police say a Twitter threat directed at a local elementary is unfounded.
Pearre Creek Elementary School was evacuated Friday morning following the threat which was posted on Twitter around 6 p.m. Thursday.
The threat did not specifically name Pearre Creek but threatened to blow up a school in the Westhaven community where it is located.
Franklin police Sgt. Charles Warner said his department was informed of the threat Friday morning and began immediately investigating.
The school was evacuated and students were taken to a nearby church as a precaution.
No threat was determined and classes resumed as normal before Noon.
In a media release earlier Friday, Sgt. Warner said the person who tweeted the threat tweeted a similar threat about a school in Pennsylvania. That threat also did not come to fruition.
Police contacted the Pennsylvania law enforcement agency investigating that threat.
More information will be released as it becomes available.
Westhaven is located approximately three miles south of downtown Franklin off Highway 96.
