NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A new kiosk allows drivers to renew their tags in under a minute.
The new machine was unveiled Tuesday morning in Davidson County.
Nashville Mayor Karl Dean told News 2 he hopes the kiosk will be the first of many throughout the city.
“I hope we’ll have more of these eventually all over the county and make life easier for folks here,” he said. “These kinds of innovations help our citizens conduct business with the government quickly, then they can get back to their busy lives.”
To use the new kiosk, a driver must take their renewal notice or previous year’s registration to the downtown Driver Services Center and scan a barcode.
The barcode will retrieve the driver’s vehicle information and confirm the motorist has taken their vehicle through emissions.
Users pay for their decal, which is printed on the spot, with their debit or credit cards. A 2.3 percent service charge does apply.
