NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man was arrested for his fifth driving under the influence charge early Monday morning after police found him asleep behind the wheel of a car with the engine running in Antioch.
According to an affidavit, a security officer reported seeing a vehicle driving across the grass on Antioch Pike.
Officers found Saul Mendez asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle sitting in front of a business.
The report states the car was on and in drive with Mendez’s foot on the brake.
Officers put the car in park, shut it off and then woke Mendez, 36, up.
Open beer cans were found in the car and Mendez appeared to be unsteady on his feet, according an affidavit.
He failed sobriety tests and was arrested.
The arrest is Mendez’s fifth in Davidson County for DUI, but he has only been convicted on three of the charges. The fourth is pending in criminal court.
His latest DUI charge for Mendez is a Class E felony. He was also charged for having a revoked driver’s license.
He was booked into the Metro jail on $55,000 bond.
